Interview: Christian Gualtieri Invents an Anti-Ram Vehicle Bollard – "Safely"

The waves of attacks affecting populations in France, Europe, and around the world have not left Christian Gualtieri indifferent. He is currently developing a concrete anti-ram vehicle bollard.

After holding various positions for thirty years in the concrete industry, Fleurinois Christian Gualtieri founded his own company, Urban-Concept Pierre et Béton. At the same time, he serves as a consultant for the German company Birkenmeler Stein + Design and the Canadian company Techniseal.

Throughout his thirty-year career in the marketing of precast concrete materials for urban development—including anti-parking barriers—he has continuously sought innovative products.

The recent attacks worldwide motivated Christian Gualtieri to leverage his expertise to improve public safety. His invention, developed over more than a year following the Nice attack, is an anti-terrorist concrete bollard equipped with a self-anchoring claw system that secures it into the ground upon impact, effectively stopping ram-raid vehicles over a very short distance. The bollard can be either removable for temporary events or permanently installed in sensitive areas and sites.
